The BCFT Student Experience

We know learning to become a pilot is an exciting new adventure filled with new experiences, but we also understand there can be challenges.

We take a cohesive, inclusive and personalised approach to enhancing the student experience. We’re determined to give our students the best training with instructors and support staff that are approachable and accessible at all times. Students have the opportunity to interact, integrate with each other and to feel a sense of belonging and we hope you’ll join us.

Our Approach

We aim to ensure that all of our students have an exceptional and distinctive experience while training to become a commercial pilot at BCFT.

We keep our students at the heart of everything we do. BCFT is renowned in the aviation industry for our excellent and personal approach to airline pilot training. One that encompasses all subjects, multiple modes of learning, complete student support and all aspects of flying. We continually look to invest in new and existing facilities, training and technology to create the best possible training environment, making our students the best pilots.

From your first contact with us, our aim is to provide you with a personalised pathway to becoming a first officer. This begins when you first visit, we do not run group interviews rather we meet each and every one of our students on a one-to-one basis. We believe pilot training is a very personal matter.

We believe your experience at BCFT should prepare you for life beyond your training, ready for the challenges of airline flying.

What Our Students Can Expect

Students at BCFT will benefit from excellent teaching with a guaranteed instructor to student ratio that is optimised through each phase of training. This ensures one of the highest success rates in the UK.

Extensive curricular and co-curricular partnerships give our students the opportunities to study and fly abroad. With our partners at Florida Institute of Technology, located in the City of Melbourne on Florida’s sunny “Space Coast”, our students are able to benefit from the better weather conditions and find out what it’s like to fly in US airspace. Students also get a great opportunity to experience Florida campus life – think “top engineering school meets top holiday spot”. Off campus there’s attractions such as NASA and NASCAR on the doorstep. Our students will find this the perfect place to live, learn and explore for 4 ½ months.

Back in the UK, students have access to excellent facilities in our training centre, airside on Bournemouth Airport. They can enjoy the invaluable experience of flying inside class D controlled airspace facilitated by a team of professional Air Traffic Controllers (ATC).

When leaving BCFT we strongly believe our students should be equipped with the expertise and attributes needed to achieve their full potential within the commercial flying community. Choose a commercial pilot training course at BCFT and you’ll match our ambition of developing excellent pilots with your ambition of becoming an excellent pilot.

Beyond The License

We attract students from all over the world, creating a rich and exciting community. We are also lucky to be located in the vibrant, dynamic town of Bournemouth with a reputation as one of the UK's most popular tourist destinations.

BCFT has invested in our own hotel, The Silver How. The hotel, in the heart of Bournemouth is available for the sole use of our students and offers clean, comfortable rooms within a friendly environment, conducive to studying. The hotel provides our students with the perfect base to enjoy the south coast lifestyle here in Bournemouth.

Every year the town hosts a number of excellent, nationally renowned events including the Bournemouth Air Show – the UK’s largest air festival.

We want our students to leave with an education that goes far beyond their qualification.

Your time here will be remembered!
