From start to finish, BCFT were an approachable, professional, and affordable school! I started in April 2019, and by March 2020 had completed my ATPL exams, CPL, MEP and MEIR with them, with first time passes in everything.

During the initial enquiries, communication was very efficient. BCFT were open and honest about all the costs involved right from the start and tailored the quote to my needs and previous experience. I was able to book into BCFT’s hotel, the Silver How for the duration of my training, which gave me the opportunity to both study and socialise with other students, and have easy access to Bournemouth’s town centre and beach – less a 5 minute walk from the door!

During the ground school training, I felt supported and encouraged. It’s a tough and intense part of the training, but I found the structured nature of the course and the pace of the lessons really helped to organise my study and mange my time. It was great to have all the instructors on hand in case I needed extra help or learning material. Despite the compact nature of the course, at the end of each module I felt ready to take the exams and as a result scored an overall average of 96% across the 14 subjects.

Within days of passing my last exam, I started the flying phase, and this allowed great continuity in my training. The aircraft fleet is well maintained, and the scheduling by the operations team ensures you always have at least one flight a day, but more if possible. The flying instructors help encourage you to achieve your maximum potential, and ensure you are totally ready to take your flying tests. I found the briefings before flights and de-briefs after flights to be very comprehensive, which allowed me to take control of my progression and prepare thoroughly for the next flight. You never feel as though the time is rushed or that you’re not getting value for money.

The modern avionics installed in the Duchess aircraft provided a great introduction to a glass cockpit environment. This is especially useful during the IR training, when you are making approaches to airports in poor weather conditions – the equipment on board is advanced, and this helps to reduce your workload and make this training even more enjoyable and exciting!

Once you have completed your training you are not forgotten! BCFT will support you in your next steps and help you with applications for future jobs. As it happened, I already had a job lined up as a flying instructor at a school based in the Cotswolds, but no doubt BCFT has left me with all the skills I need for a bright career in the aviation world. BCFT was the right choice for me, and a real first-class service!
